Thank you for supporting Brattleboro Area Hospice by donating to Experienced Goods
Please do not leave donations outside our location.
Our storage space is limited, so it is vitally important that donors bring us items that are in SELLABLE condition and require a minimum of processing. An item may seem useable, but if it is stained, dirty, torn, chipped, broken, missing parts, or otherwise compromised, we cannot sell it and must find a way to dispose of it. Since our mission is to raise money for Brattleboro Area Hospice, you are helping us fulfill that mission by bringing us only sellable items. There are other local resources for recycling goods that are not in sellable condition, and we ask that you make use of those resources. Please take these guidelines into consideration and understand that if we decline something you are donating, we are keeping our mission and our limitations in mind.
As always, we are incredibly grateful for the loyalty and support of our customers and donors. Experienced Goods has been an integral part of the Brattleboro community for 30 years; we are not just a unique thrift store, we are a multifaceted business that enriches the community in many ways. That would not be possible without your ongoing patronage. So, thank you from the bottoms of our hearts, and we will see you when we open!
Donations are tax deductible; just ask for a receipt when you drop off your items!
All donations must be in clean and sellable condition. We reserve the right to not accept any donation. We ask everyone to consider the health and safety of the staff, volunteers and customers when bringing in donations. In addition, we ask that donors screen donations to ensure the items are in good, clean condition and are sellable.
ALL DONATIONS ARE SUBJECT TO APPROVAL BY STORE STAFF.

Community Connections: Reusing and Recycling
The primary mission at Experienced Goods is to raise money for Brattleboro Area Hospice. The shop provides approximately 65% of the operating budget for BAH.
We are very fortunate to live in a community where a reuse ethic (repair, donate and buy used) is strong, allowing nonprofit organizations like us to exist by selling salvageable personal property. This reuse ethic of taking unwanted items and allowing them to have another life not only provides needed funding for BAH, it also provides affordable products for our local community. It also keeps actual tons of waste out of our local landfill, saving natural resources of energy and water.
Our partnerships include:
Clothing, etc: Approximately 52 tons of textiles per year are sent along to the Salvation Army for sale or salvage. This includes:
clothes
linens
shoes
purses
Jeans are reused for quilts and other projects
T-shirts are reused for silkscreen projects
Metal items such as non-working waffle irons, lamps, copper plates, etc. go to a scrap metal recycler.
Vases are given for reuse to Taylor For Flowers
Cardboard boxes from donations are either recycled or used to pack and store seasonal items
“The Bin”: Interesting items that don’t make the racks are offered at a $2.00 price point
Boomerang: Gives Experienced Goods unsold consignment clothing that the seller does not want returned
Books: Books that don’t sell go to Roundabout Books in Greenfield, MA where they are sold or shredded and recycled.
Various items that are donated but we cannot sell such as humidifiers, dehumidifiers, TVs, and the like go to Windham Solid Waste
